I love quotes! And I’ve collected “a million” of them! Quotations can very concisely express a special insight and often seem to convey what we simply know in our hearts to be true. They can reveal thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears, desires and more. Quotes are often easy to remember and we can bring them to mind when we need them most.
What’s my favorite quote? I have absolutely no idea! It depends on the occasion, the day, what I’m going through in my life, how I’m feeling and, I suppose, many other things. You get the idea!
Let me just share one powerful quote here. As I’m writing this – and for whatever reason – a Maya Angelou quote comes to mind. “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Like nearly all of the quotes I’ve collected I have no idea when I heard that quote for the first time. But I can tell you it stopped me in my tracks. Someone I love dearly was in a difficult, dangerous relationship. While this friend may not have been open to my well-meaning advice, I did share this quote…more than once. I don’t know about you, but I know I could have used this little nugget of wisdom more than once in my life.
On a related, lighter note, when I shared the wonderful Maya Angelou quote with my friend, I also shared some advice given by Bette Midler in her rendition of “Too many fish in the sea”! Give it a look-see!
In this blog I will be sharing many different quotes in a variety of contexts. Some quotes will be lighthearted; some will be serious. Whatever they are, I hope you will appreciate my intent: to offer what I consider in many ways to be Words To Live By.

Taking the road less traveled
Hey!
I read your about page. It’s interesting and good to know about you. You’re such an optimistic person and I loved this. You’re so fresh and joyous at 70 which is commendable. Really appreciate it!
Looking forward to your posts. Now following.

Oh my goodness. I just saw your comment! Thank you SO much for your kind words…and taking the time to comment! Yes, I am generally optimistic, thought I admit that optimism is tested at times! 🙂 As I’ve written in the past…somewhere along the way…”It’s okay to be sad but not for too long.” This blog is a “labor of love” to encourage and connect with fellow travelers of this journey of aging. Again, THANK YOU. Blessings to you as well. Kate
